We at Happy Cow Creamery and Trantham 12 Aprils Dairy are excited to announce that we’re now offering tours of our farm. The farm has been operating since 1979 and people often have requested to be able to come and see what it takes to run a dairy. We are also the last dairy farm left in Greenville and Pickens County so I guess you could say you’re stuck with us. Since we bottle our own milk, we are able to offer more to see than on most typical dairies. We are the only bottling plant in the world located in a Harvestore silo which always brings a smile to the face of young and old when seen.
While touring, your group will take a trolley ride to see our lush grazing paddocks. You’ll also see our milking parlor where our “girls” work. Through-out the tour your guide will tell you the story behind Happy Cow Creamery and how a touch of hard work and a lot of God’s grace we’re able to offer our community a healthy, fresh and affordable product. And of course a sampling of the milk is a must at our covered picnic area. Groups touring are more than welcome to use our picnic area for lunch time or even some yummy Happy Cow Creamery ice cream which seems to be popular with most. Don’t forget to ask Allie for catering ideas when scheduling your large group tours. Your group will leave our farm with a better understanding of where milk begins and ends and all the in between. The tours are sure to be educational with a touch of good ol’ farm fun!
Our hopes in offering tours is to educate our community about the importance of local agriculture and possibly light the fire of an inspiring future farmer. We hope you will come and let us share what we feel will be a trip your group will remember for years to come.
